SEATTLE, Wash. – Seattle University head softball coach Dan Powers announced the signing of a pair of local products to a National Letter Intent, as part of the incoming class of 2016. Joining the Redhawks next season are: Hayley Beckstrom (Maple Valley, Wash.) and Brittney Lott (Tacoma, Wash.).

“We are very excited to bring Hayley and Brittney into our program. I expect both of them to make their mark on our program,” said Powers.

Hayley Beckstrom

Infield · R/R

Maple Valley, Wash./Tahoma

A three-year varsity starter, infielder Hayley Beckstrom helped guide Tahoma High School to three consecutive playoff appearances, including a pair of league championships in 2010 and 2011. In addition to a seventh place finish in the Washington State tournament in 2011, she is a three-time All-SPSL 4A North selection. Over three seasons, she holds above a combined .300 batting average and .966 fielding percentage, and currently is second in THS history in runs scored. Beckstrom also currently plays club softball for the Rainier Jets, after playing with the Seattle Rainiers and Xtreme from 2004-2010.

Coach Powers on Beckstrom: “Hayley brings versatility to our infield, as she can play shortstop, third base and second base. Offensively she is starting to come into her own and has power potential to all fields.”

Brittney Lott

First Base/Outfield · L/L

Tacoma, Wash./Stadium

First baseman Brittney Lott is coming off a standout 2011 campaign, where she was the All-Narrows League MVP, and an All-Narrows First Team and All-Area selection. Over her three-year varsity starting career, she has been named an all-league selection three times and helped Stadium High School reach the playoffs in 2009, 2010 and 2011, in addition to a Washington State tournament appearance. Lott currently plays for the WA Acers Gold Team, and previously competed for: WA Acers, A.S.A Xtreme, NW Ladysharks and WA Ladyhawks Gold. In 2009 with the Ladyhawks, she was a Triple Crown World Series All-Star Team selection and in 2007, she was a NFPSA All-World Team member with A.S.A. Xtreme.

Coach Powers on Lott: “Brittney brings another solid left handed bat to our lineup. We expect her to compete at first base, but she can also play in the outfield.”

The Redhawks will look to sign additional student-athletes during the spring signing period.
